The Statue of Liberty in New York City is one of the most famous landmarks in the United States. It was unveiled in 1886 as a gift from France to the United States. It remains a powerful symbol of freedom, hope, and immigration for the United States, as it was the first visible sign of a new beginning and new opportunities for many who came to the country through Ellis Island. Even today, it remains a symbol of American values.
The coin design fully reflects the significance of this icon. Thanks to the smartminting® technique used on the coin, the Statue of Liberty is literally enthroned. The combination of matte and polished surfaces, as well as the fact that the statue protrudes into the edge of the coin in several places, creates a very special effect.
The phrase E "pluribus unum" (out of many one) on the edge of the coin has a very special meaning for the United States. It symbolizes that the original 13 separate colonies formed one country and appears on many American coins.
The background consists of the Manhattan skyline against a backdrop of fine guilloche lines, symbolizing the charm of this famous borough. The aesthetic impression is completed by the enamel, which separates the Statue of Liberty from the rest of the coin in a special way, deliberately making it a real magnet for the eyes. A very successful modern interpretation of a timeless icon.
The coin comes in an elegant collector's box and is limited to only 500 pieces. A certificate of authenticity is included.
